COMPUTER AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Computer is an electronic device which is capable of receiving information
(data) in a particular form and of performing a sequence of operations in
accordance with a predetermined but variable set of procedural instructions
(program) to produce a result in the form of information or signals.
Charles Babbage was considered to be the father of computer after his
invention and concept of the Analytical Engine in 1837.
Alan Turing is considered as father of modern computer science. He formed
the concept of the algorithms and computations with one of his inventions, the Charles Babbage
Turing machine. He is also regarded as father of theoretical computer science 1792 – 1871
and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
                                      Characteristics of Computer
 Automatic (Spontaneous)  Reliability (Consistency)
 Accuracy (Authenticity)  Versatility (Adaptability)
 Speed (Celerity)  No I.Q.
 Diligence (Attentiveness)  No feelings
 Memory (Storehouse)
                                     Basic Computer Organization
A Computer performs the following three operations in sequence.
 It receives data & instructions from the input device.
 Processes the data as per instructions.
 Provides the result (output) in a preferred form.
