(A ‘year of the gods’ consists of 360 human years).
The above ages are sometimes named after metals—gold, silver, copper
and iron respectively. We are now in the kali age when goodness,
kindness, virtue, justice, strength, longevity and happiness are at their
 lowest ebb.
The present age commenced in 3102 BC which is also the traditional date
of the Mahabharata war. In the golden age all beings observed dharma,
three-quarters in the silver age, half in the copper or bronze age, and only
a quarter in the present debased iron age.
